Spiritual Needs - The child must develop a personal relationship with God. He needs activities and environment that will encourage participation in faith building activities, give positive feedback to spiritual pursuits, and opportunity to develop a peer group that will encourage him in his faith and share in faith building activities, and provide him with role models of Christian leadership. Faith and worship need to be more than a Sunday activity, and he needs to be brought to see the importance of faith long term in his life.
Emotional Needs - The child needs to be brought to feel a part of a larger picture. He needs to feel loved and be able to express love for others in God-pleasing ways. He needs to have POSITIVE feedback to his efforts, and failures need to be seen as learning opportunities, handled in ways that are productive and will instill a desire to improve rather than giving up.
Moral Needs - The child needs to develop the wisdom of Solomon, that of a discerning heart. He needs to have a clear understanding of God’s expectations, and what is right and wrong according to God’s standard. The child needs a family and peer group that will encourage when they make correct choices, and will gently rebuke and admonish when they stray from that course.
Mental Needs - The child must be challenged to use his God given academic abilities. He needs to be taught to his specific strengths, and his weaknesses need remediation in a way that will give him encouragement, stressing the positive aspects of academics.
Physical Needs - The child needs to be physically active and encouraged in living a healthy and God pleasing lifestyle. He needs to have physical outlets to develop his God given abilities. He needs an environment that is physically safe.
